Ethio Amharic Keyboard

Effective date: October 14, 2026

Ethio Amharic Keyboard (the "app") is developed by Henok Tasissa. It is available for iPhone and iPad (as an app with a keyboard extension) and for Mac (as an input method with a setup app). This policy explains how all of them handle information.

The short version

The app does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It works fully offline. The iPhone and iPad keyboard does not ask for Full Access, and the Mac input method makes no network connections.

What the keyboard does with what you type

The keyboard handles the text you type only on your device, to insert letters, show word suggestions, correct spelling, and turn English letters into Amharic. What you type is not stored, logged, or sent anywhere. The keyboard does not request Full Access, so iOS does not allow it to use the network at all.

The Mac input method

On Mac, what you type is converted in memory and passed to the app you are typing in. It is not written to disk or logged, and the input method does not connect to the internet or send anything anywhere. When macOS reports a secure input field, such as a password box, the keyboard does not touch your keystrokes at all.

Settings stored on your device

Your choices (on iPhone and iPad: theme, font size, keyboard background, key preview and key click; on Mac: palette size, opacity, position and similar options) are saved on your device, in a container shared by the app and its keyboard on iOS and in the standard preferences file on Mac. They never leave your device.

Dictionaries

Word suggestions come from dictionaries that are bundled inside the app. The keyboard does not learn from, or keep a record of, your typing.

Third parties

The app does not include advertising, analytics or any third-party service. Apple may process information about downloads and crashes under Apple's own privacy policy when you use the App Store or TestFlight. The Mac download is notarized by Apple, which checks the software for malware when it is published; this involves the software only, not your data.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

The developer holds no data about you. To remove the settings stored on your device, delete the app. On Mac, use Remove in the setup app, then delete the setup app.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
